On April 25th, 2024, after four years remote ceremony due to COVID, this Scholarship Awards ceremony was finally held in person in Tin Man Elementary School. Mrs. Mimi Gong and Mr. John Gong were able to be presented on site and gave the awards to all these winning students. Mr. Gong also gave a short speech to encourage all the students and promised more funding to the special award program. BRIDGE will continue to support those special award winners through Junior High and High schools. Local government including Director HongJuan Li from WenShan City and Director YingMei Jiang from MaLi Po County also were in the awards ceremony.
After the ceremony, Mrs. and Mr. Gong also visited the local Junior High and High Schools for those students who graduated from Tin Man Elementary School a few years ago. It was so excited to see those students achieving great success in these schools through BRIDGE special award programs.

Malipo County is located SouthEast of Yunnan Province in China. The population is about 270,000. The average household annual income is less than $1,000 per year. It is one of the poorest counties in China. Not far from Vietnam, this area has many minorities in this county and most of them do not have any education.
BRIDGE Foundation Donates
During July 2016 China’s trip I learned that Tin Man Elementary School in Liu He Village has approximately 40 girls and 40 boys boarding at the school. Boarding school is encouraged since these kids have to walk over 3 hours one way through the jungle to get to school. However, the school dormitory is poorly equipped without basic living supplies. These 80 kids do not have any blankets and mattress for winters. They normally sleep on bamboo sheets with several clothes on and huddle together to keep warm. While still in process of establishing The BRIDGE Foundation, I was able to raise enough funds to donate 80 sets of pillows, blankets, and mattresses to these kids before the frigid winter!!!
